Trinity English exams have a unique style and organisation. Rather than grammar and comprehension based activities, Trinity tries to replicate real-world English in their ISE exams. They are created and run by Trinity College London, hence the name. Trinity also runs the GESE exams, which are primarily a speaking test. The GESE exams and the ISE speaking component follow a similar structure.
Breakout English has worked to create some quality Trinity English exam materials that you can use to prepare the ISE exams with confidence.
Materials for Trinity Exams
How to use Breakout English’s materials for Trinity English exams
The aim of Breakout English is to create materials that teachers can take into the classroom without worrying that they might have mistakes, inconsistencies or confusing elements. These materials should fit right into a Trinity English exam preparation course.
Use the materials to supplement your current topics. Most of them are designed to stand alone rather than be complete lessons. That means the lead-in, fillers, coolers and other spacers are still up to you as the teacher. The reason for this is to provide flexibility. We don’t want to force you into a pre-designed class, just to provide you with quality tools to get the job done.
Learners can also use the materials on Breakout English for self-study.
Why ISE exams?
The Trinity ISE (Integrated Skills in English) exams are a popular English test. Trinity has expanded it’s presence in the already competitive examination certification market. Being accepted by numerous international institutions as proof of a candidate’s CEFR (Common European Framework) English level, Trinity ISE I, II and III are growing in popularity. Trinity also offers the GESE speaking exam, for which many of the materials on Breakout English would also apply to.
Having taught Trinity English exam preparation courses, I found the materials available online left something to be desired. In fact, Trinity’s website provides quite a few. It was possible to find a bit of everything, but I felt like it never quite fit, or never did enough to prepare my students. That’s why I decided to create and publish materials for the ISE exams here on Breakout English.
